Often we are asked what to shop for at estate sales when you want to buy low and sell high. Estate sales can be a great place to find killer deals on items that are fast to sell online, easy to ship, and seldom available. While some of these items may not always be easy to find, if you get the chance you should consider buying them up before someone else.

1. Legos and Lincoln Logs

Legos and other popular children toys like KANEX and Lincoln Logs can be lucrative to resell on the Internet. Thrifty shoppers (like you, right?) won’t pay retail price for children’s toys but look for great deals on auction websites for second hand toys. If you can get a great deal at an estate sale, you have a great opportunity to turn a profit online.

2. Power Tools

High end power tool brands like DeWalt, Craftsman, Milwaukee, and others hold great second hand value locally and online. Power Tools can often be overlooked at estate sales. Generators, compressors, electric saws, all offer a nice second hand value to resell locally or online.

Not every record or LP is a roaring success on the second hand market. If you are lucky, you can come across some very valuable vinyl at your next estate sale.

4. Cast Iron

Cast iron is an extremely old method of cooking and nearly every estate sale has at least one piece of cast iron cookware. Many times these cast iron cookwares can be 50-75 years old as older generations pass them down to their younger family members. Cast iron is easy to scour, wash, and re-season. You can resell second hand cast iron cookware and other cast iron items easily.

5. Apple iPod (Classic Models)

Technology changes so rapidly that we are constantly upgrading to new devices yearly. Often times these legacy media players can be overlooked to the everyday upgrader with the latest devices. Some do not realize there are many people who prefer a handful of older models due to their collectability or their massive storage space. These older, high-capacity, iPod classic models can bring close to their original value, and sometimes more, even if they are used.

6. Mercury Dimes

Mercury Dimes are generally worth more than their original face value regardless of their age or cosmetic condition. Mercury dimes have not been produced since 1945. It is not uncommon to find complete rolls of  mercury dimes at some estate sales. An entire roll of mercury dimes could be your next profitable item in online auctions.
